My current read - The Firm by John Grisham

Hi my fellow bookworms!

So I am currently reading the Firm by John Grisham. This book is a legal drama and has got me hooked thus far. The story starts off really slow but gradually starts to pick up pace.
For those of you that are not familiar with the plot line, the story revolves around "a fresh out of Havard" lawyer named Mitch Mcdeere who gets offered a job at a small law firm in Memphis. The perks of job, which include a new house and car, exceed his wildest expectations. However, all is not what it seems with the firm and his dream job becomes a nightmare.

I am about two hundred and fifty pages into this novel and can't wait to see how the story unfolds.

Let me know in the comments below what books you are currently reading.

Happy Reading!

TBR and Books I'm currently reading

Hi my fellow bookworms! I have not done a post in a while due to my work schedule and writing, so I wanted to let you guys know what's currently on my TBR list and the books I'm reading at the moment. I have narrowed the TBR list down to just three books since the list is so massive (I'm not kidding, there's seriously tons of books on that list!). So let's get straight to it. First up is The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King, which I have mentioned in a previous post about The Gunslinger .This book is the second book in the Dark Tower Series and I can't wait to start it. This series is phenomenal and I am looking forward to watching the movie out in August this year.

The second book on my list has to be The Firm by John Grisham.

I have been meaning to read this one for a while now and it has seriously been lying on my night stand for months. The book is of course a legal drama, keeping in line with Grisham's usual theme. It's a face paced story with a lot of plot twists (from what I hear) and will certainly be a gripping read.

Last,  but not least, is The Leopard by Jo Nesbo.

This book is eighth book in the Harry Hole Series and with having just recently read The Snowman, I am looking forward to Harry's next case.

As for the current books I'm reading, Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas has got me hooked.

I am loving the story so far and the setting. Although I have a few other books I'm reading currently, I seem to be gravitating to this one. The protagonist is very daring and what is interesting is how she is fierce but yet still a bit soft at the same time.

So that's it from me for now, let me know what books you are currently reading or your TBR list in the comments below.

Happy reading!

Excerpts from The Guardians of the Relic

Hi my fellow bookworms, The Guardians of the Relic is now out on Amazon.

SynopsisFor librarian Emily Carson, life is great. She has a good job, good friends, new love, and family. Years after the death of her parents, the pieces of her life are finally coming back together. Everything seems to be going well, until one night she mistakenly meets them: a group of mysterious men holding a secret meeting.

Who are they, and what are they planning? To make matters worse, these men don’t seem ordinary to her. There is something very strange about them. Curious, she enlists the help of the weird but quirky genius Ethan Cunningham, but to her surprise he has secrets of his own.

As they search for answers Emily doesn't realize she is treading down a dangerous path and she now has a target on her back. Her whole world gets turned upside down as a series of events unfold and lead her to shocking new discoveries.

I thought the readers would like a sneak peak, so my publisher Arrowhead Freelance and Publishing has released exciting snippets of the book on their website, click on the links below to read:

The Gunslinger: The Dark Tower Series

Hi my fellow bookworms. I recently finished the first book in the The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, The Gunslinger. The book starts off quite slow and I have to admit it didn't really get my attention at the beginning. However, the story gets very gripping towards the middle and I couldn't put the book down until the end. This book certainly ends with a mystery, leaving the reader wanting to know more about Roland (Gunslinger) and the tower, that is the genius of Mr King's writing. Even if you are like me, not really into stories in the western type settings, you will still find yourself drawn to this book. I will definitely be reading the next book which is The Drawing of the Three.

I was excited to hear that it has been turned into a movie which is releasing in August this year.  I saw the official trailer and it looks amazing!
So the only question left is: what is my rating for this book? I would say it deserves a 4 out of 5 stars, definitely worth checking out.

As always let me know your thoughts in the comments below....Happy reading!

Largest and most beautiful libraries in the world

Hi my fellow bookworms! I recently watched a video on the most beautiful libraries in the world and I wanted to share some of them with you. There are really breath taking, especially for us bookworms. It's definitely love at first sight :-). So let's get to it, first up is the stunning Dokk1 Library situated in Aarhus, Denmark.

This library was designed by architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen in 2015. It is the largest public library in Scandinavia. I could not find any record of the number of books in this library, which is disappointing, since that is the most important part (well, for me at least). However, it is definitely one of the most beautiful I have seen.

Up next is the Yanzhou Zhongshuge in China.

I dont think this technically falls under the library category since it is really a bookstore, but since it has such an incredible design, I had to include it here. The designers have used black mirrored flooring and arched shelves to create a tunnel of books inside the store (I know, it's spectacular right!).

Next up is the British Library situated in London. The Library itself was built in the year 1973, however, prior to this, it formed part of the British Museum.

This library is the second largest in the world and holds an estimate of 150 million items ranging from books to newspapers, journals, magazines etc. It is magnificent, I especially loved the reading room pictured below.

Lastly, but certainly not least, is the Library of Congress in Washington DC, USA. This is the largest library in the world, with an estimate of 24 million books and 160 million other items. The library has been in existence since the 1800's (shew, that's a long time). It has, over the years, been revamped and re-designed. I would definitely love to visit this library one day.

Well, that's it for my list of the largest and most beautiful libraries in the world. Let me know your thoughts comments below. Until next time, Happy Reading!

March Book List

Hi my fellow bookworms :-), I'm back, I have been behind on my reading recently due to my work schedule and writing, but I am happy to announce that I'm back on track now.

Since we are already into the second week of March, (I know...shocking right...the year is going so fast), I thought I would share with you my current reading list. I will be starting my own TBR (To Be Read) soon, so be sure to follow for updates. Generally, I like to read more than one book at a time, some people find it hard, I just love it.  Here is my March book list:

First up is The Godfather by Mario Puzo, now keep in mind, I haven't watched the film (don't look so shocked...I will watch it soon, after I finish the novel), but I have heard a lot about it. This book has been great so far and I am really looking forward to see how the characters develop.

Second is The Gunslinger: The Dark Tower Series 1 by Stephen King. I have heard tons of good things about this book so I decided it was time I read it. Also I have become a big fan of his work, Mr King is a brilliant writer. I have to admit though, it's not really similar to any of the style of books I am used too, but I will give it a chance. So far so good.

Finally, last but not least Self-Editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Browne and Dave king. This is a non-fiction book, as you can tell from the title. I think it's a useful tool for all writers and aspiring writers. I believe that there is always room to learn and improve yourself as a writer. I applaud the authors for their willingness to share these tricks of the trade and teach many the craft of editing, really enjoying this one.

So these are the books I'm currently reading. Let me know in the comments below what's on your reading list this month or TBR. Happy Reading!

What is your favourite Crime Novel?

Hi all, I am personally a big fan of the "who-done-it" stories. I recently read Harlan Coben's Drop Shot, which was along the same lines. There is just something special about these crime novels that makes it "page-turning". Since I am currently reading The Snowman by Jo Nesbo (really enjoying it!), I thought it would be fun to read all your favourite crime novels. I am currently working on my own crime novel which I am thrilled about writing.

Let me know your thoughts and favourites in the comments below. I look forward to reading them :-)
